Install Virtual Box Addition for Ubuntu 9 10 for higher monitor resolution

I’ll show you how to install Virtual Box Additions for improve performance and monitor resolutions in Operating Systems running in Virtual Box. All you have to do is go to the devices menu item at the top of your virtual machine window in Sun Virtual Box then click on Install Additions at the bottom of the menu. A CD short cut will show up in your desktop. Open the CD and open Autorun.sh in terminal type in your password and press enter. Terminal would install Vbox Additions automatically. You need to lastly restart Ubuntu 9.10 and now you should have higher resolution in Ubuntu when in Virtual box. Sorry if this sounds a little lazy of me to just be asking instead of figuring it out, but I know nothing about video cards except that NVIDIA has better Linux drivers…

I am building a computer within the next couple of days, consisting of:
Case: Lian-Li PC-B25F
Motherboard: MSI 870A-G54AMD 870 ATX
RAM: G.Skill 6GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
HDD: 1TB 7200 rpm Western Digital Caviar Blue
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 @ 2.8 Ghz (hope to OC to 3.4 Ghz at least)
GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1 GB
Monitor: HP 25″ 1080p
lite-on dvd burner, koutech card reader, antec psu, blah blah blah

Would most modern games have reasonable playback on this system (Crysis, any of the CODs, etc) at the full 1920 X 1080 resolution? I run Ubuntu and am going to college soon, so i just ordered the most reasonable NVIDIA card I saw, knowing no better. I’m very new to PC gaming, trying to wean myself off of the PS3..however, if gaming with this setup wouldnt be much better than the PS3, I can stick with the console and save myself the trouble of buying windows.

well that’s a good set-up there but try going for AMD II 630 x4 u can overclock it to 3.7ghz
6 cores to over rated plus the AMD II 630 is 100 buck .
the gts 250 will run games like crysis on mid settings .try a gtx 275 $ 250.00
will run most but all games at 1080p at the hightest setting

my setup is
asus 750a motherboard
two BGF gtx275 oc
AMD II 630 stock2.8 oc3.6
8gigs crosshair ram
crosshair 850 powersuply
2t hard drive

playes games like crysis at 37 to 53fps and the hightest setting and at 1080p
